Quantification of soot deposit on a resistive sensor: Proposal of an experimental calibration protocol

During a fire in an industrial facility, the main consequences concerning aerosol are production of large amount soot and potential resuspension hazardous material particulate form. Soot deposition quantification on walls room during is essential for prediction quantities that can be transported ventilation ducts clog high efficiency air filters. For this purpose, accumulative resistive sensors, initially developed monitoring Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), have been used to quantify particles deposited its sensing side. After validation fabrication process via electrical measurements, sensor response has studied under different polarization voltages experimental protocol qualified. Thanks those protocols, it was first demonstrated voltage no influence velocity. Then, calibrated at 10 V 0.1 V. V, results less repeatable do not allow propose correlation between conductance mass. Better repeatability found allowing develop calibration procedure aiming correlate mass aerosol. Indeed, proved blind zone, terms conductance, deposit ranging from 0 230 mg/m 2 .
